Paul Schoborg's land surveying business is attached to his barn but this is no ordinary barn. It is the home of the BARN JAM. Musicians from all around the Twin Cities area show up at this barn near Delano, Minnesota to while away the hours playing great sounds. We play blues, country, rock, Latin or anything we feel like playing. So far in 2004 we've had two jams, both in August and we hope to have one more.  Jams run from 2PM to about 6:00.   Paul Schoborg   Paul Schoborg, bassist and organizer of the barn jams. He's an excellent singer with a big, powerful voice along with the enthusiasm and charisma necessary to keep the jam sessions smooth-running and fun.
Bob Bob Perry, rhythm guitarist and singer, adds edgy blues and rock sounds to the jam.
Jim   Jim Preston, lead guitarist and sometimes singer and working lately in the group Ron Kalman and the Rhythm Kings. These pictures show him playing his six-string and bass guitars.
George   George Kuczek is an excellent drummer and an avid participant who has made it to the most recent jams. He has taken over where Steve Swanson left off.
>Photo, guitars< Nowell Freeman, who occasionally frequents the barn jams, is a fine blues lead guitarist. He is working off and on in more than one group.
Mark Mark came to his first barn jam August 15th, 2004. This guy can really sing and is a very accomplised keyboard artist. Now and then we just let him sing and play solo and it was great.
Kenny Kenny is a fantastic heavy-metal artist. He can really jam on ZZ Top and plays a great guitar on "Cant You See" by the Marshal Tucker Band. He also does great Hendrix.
Morrie Morrie.....well, I need a better picture because he's actually got the best smile and is one of the most enthusiastic guitar players. He has a great guitar style and a nice voice, too.
Dan Dan comes to a lot of the barn jams. He plays well on the keyboards. His band is "The Fugitives".
Dave Dave plays guitar, bass and keyboards (and maybe even more). He is really good and he works with Dan and two others in a band called "The Fugitives". Click to see Dave pose with Dan representing the Fugitive contingent of the barn jam band.
Josh   Josh Schoborg, Paul's son, has gotten good on the drums and can provide solid rhythm.
Steve   Steve Swanson plays drums well and makes as many of the Barn Jams as he can. He moved to Fresno, California in July, 2003 and we miss his great attitude and great playing.
  >Photo, JB<   J B Barrick can sing and play really well and knows a lot of tunes. His own band is called Stuck in the Middle.
Ross Ross William Perry has released two CDs. He's got one of the hottest blues bands in town. He hasn't been to any barn jams this year, though. Click for more photos of Ross.
  >Photo, Tony<   Tony has recently become an important feature. He is excellent on harp and a fabulous slide guitarist.
  >Photo, Chuck<   Chuck plays well on a great sounding Gibson Blues Hawk and has a voice just like Willy Nelson's.
  >Photo, Dan<   Dan Richards has been a mainstay playing very solid lead guitar. He knows a great many songs, too. Unfortunately he moved to California in July 2003.

A Sunday Afternoon happening

Inside the refurbished barn In 2003 the barn got a new floor. It got a new roof in 2002 and some more improvements are planned such as a shelf on which to place amps, and a platform for the drummer.
This barn jam (Aug. 15th, '04) was so cool. We had 4 great guitars and two (sometimes three) keyboards, drums and two alternating bass players. Some songs sounded like bands you'd pay big bucks to see (a comment from the audience). It's true that most barn jams sound great. Everybody gets a shot at playing lead, especially in the blues tunes.
Nowell setting up his rig   Nowell Freeman is setting up his Fender Vibrolux amp at this August, 2003 jam. Jim Preston has set up four-track sound recording equipment to the left of Nowell's rig.
We played this instrumental built on "La Grange" by ZZ Top and here's Mike and Ken trading heavy-metal licks. Mike (left) is very talented with the slide and the Joe Satriani sound. Ken is just zonkers with the really hot screaming guitar licks.
  >Ross + Dobro<   Ross William Perry, young blues guitar phenom shown here at age 17 with his new Regal Dobro. He named it "Doc". Ross is in his twenties now and has a great group n town.
George Kuczek on drums   George Kuzcek with his drum kit.
June 8, 1996 Jam Session   A photo of the June 8, 1996 jam session at Bob Perry's. I rolled tape throughout the session and mixed a lot of cool sounds. Chuck Bramsen had a Carvin guitar here. Ross is playing an American Standard Strat.
  >Photo, 9/14/97 in barn<   A photo taken inside the barn September 14, 1997. In 2002 the barn got a new roof. In 2003 a brand new floor was laid.
