The Golden Gate Bridge during my San Francisco trip in late November 1997. Bay area friend Ron Cattani took the picture. We walked the length of the bridge and back, and then walked Fort Mason Park and Lombard Street.

Here I am in the observation lounge car of Amtrak's California Zephyr traveling from Chicago to San Francisco in July, 1997. My vacation odyssey took me from Minneapolis to Chicago to San Francisco to Seattle and back to Minneapolis, with two or three days to visit each of the cities.

Far out, man! Only one place like this that I
know of. It is in San Francisco and it's a very famous intersection for all the
hippies everywhere. Incidentally, behind me is the first ever Ben and Jerry's
Ice Cream Store.

Cousin Bob Preston at his new home in the mountains north of Seattle, WA. He is a career homebuilder and did the work himself. Brother Bill and I visited him July 13th, 1997 while I was on my rail vacation.

While I was in Seattle in July of '97 Bill took me to see Cousin Bob in the '49 Willys Jeepster which Bill bought in Maui a while back. It's a low-tech machine according to Bill, who has to work a little harder to drive it than most vehicles.
